Is it grief? Am I grieving?

My loves,

I am so tempted to write clever questions here to confirm for you that, yes, just the facts of mortality and being alive cause so much inherent grief that you should just assume that’s what you are experiencing. None of us is spared grief and often from the moment we are born. Let’s keep questioning.

Are you alive? Will you die someday?
Do you know someone who is dying? Who has recently died? Who used to be in your life and is no longer? Have you faced a miscarriage? a divorce? a disease? a devastation? a flood or fire?

Are you longing for a former version of your life that cannot return? or a version that has only ever existed in your dreams? or a version that you dare not even dream?

Yes, let’s hold that all loosely and lightly, and call it grief. What do you add to this list? I am listening.
